Hi,all. I have a question for those that use Ivermec for thier dogs. I bought some I was going to start using instead of the heartguard ...I hear I use 1/10th of a cc per 10 lbs of dog..I need to know asap today is worming day.. I bought 1% strerile solution liquid for cattle and swine.Directions say subcutaneas so do I put in a needle and inject or in the mouth and swallow it? It says it could cause fatalities in dogs...I am nervous a little..He was on ivermec at the breeders his whole life so He should be fine don't know if it was liquid or pour on though. thanks for info. the bottle has the top that u stick a syringe in. Do I peel off that cover for the oral syringe? thanks.

Re: worming with Ivermec question
i give my dogs 1cc but its a little bit more than i need if your dog has heart worms and u give them ivermec it will kill them i think 1/2 cc would be fine for a 50lb dog i put needle in bottle draw it out then i shoot it in there mouth but like i said u better know if your dog has them tho because if it does its a dead dog but u got to use something else for other worms rich

Re: worming with Ivermec question
I use 1/10 of a cc per ten pounds. But always give them a little more than they need.
I have a vet book that says that they treat heart worm with ivomec.
vets put alot of missinformation out there to keep you in the office.
Look up the old country vet on youtube. I bought his book it has some good info.

thanks guys
I gave him half a cc. I mixed it with juice. What else do you guys use for other worms preventative? Rich he has always been on some heartworm protection, the breeder had him on Ivemec I only had him long enough to give him heartguard once but I don't want to pay so damn much for a pill so I bought the ivermec today at tractor supply. I bought rid worm from walmart for the other worms how long should I wait to give him the rid worm since I gave him ivermec today? thanks I really apreciate it...chris

Re: worming with Ivermec question
Ivemec is also great for mites and other skin problems. The dose is different than for worming. Its double the worming dose and every two weeks until mite situation is under control. I have had great success when all else failed. Good luck. your on the right track..

Re: worming with Ivermec question
super message from a seasoned vet. I love it. Thanks for the post. The vet business is booming, at our expense. Glad to have them, however, it doesnt hurt to have a little knowledge or your own..

If you are not sure, you can always ask your vet for personal assistance. This is to make sure that the dog is getting the proper treatment.

Re: worming with Ivermec question
between the development cycle of heart worm and the time of year it is, it wont hurt to wait until 8 or 9 months
