I gave her steriod drops from the vet and artificial tears
    but it keeps coming back.

rinse here ears out a few times a week with a flush, but i would take a guess that the issue is from her diet, changing her food would probibly help. has the vet offerd any advice other than the drops?

eye infections are always tricky to clear up with just drops. Most vets will try that route first to see if the problem is the eye itself or in the surrounding socket.Either way it's a pain! Falcon Pharmaceuticals has a product that is the same as the drops but in a jell. "Neomycin and polymxin B Sulfates, and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension" a ribbon size line in the eye once a day will work the best.It actually stays in the eye a bit better then the drops.
Alot of the time hounds have a condition that the bottom eye lash rolls inward and irrataes the eye by rubbing against the acual eye itself.Corrective surgury is easy and not that exspensive, generally it's a inherited trait. The vet will snip the acual rim of the eye lash and put 1-2 stiches in and done..........Hope this helps......

lol sorry i thought the post was about ears not eyes......i like what hollaback said. Changing the diet and rinsing the ears weekly wont help you much lmao

Took Josie to vets again today now they think eye problem maybe
a infection that is somewhere else because of some lameness
she has and a fever. So they took blood but results won't be back until Tues.
She acts fine until after the hunt we went out today
and ran 3 ,2 were short unsuccessful runs
and one back to the gun at full speed.
But she will be home until we get word from the vet.

most dogs with a bad worm problem will have eye drainage and may not even show signs of worms anywhere else just thought i would add this as a possible cause.

Blood results neg. lyme but white blood count is up
but she is showing improvement with the antibiotic.
So the vet says to leave her on it and run her this weekend
check lameness and keep checking her eyes which seem to be clearing some.

What did the vet tell you about it? I think the dog needs other antibiotics.

She has 1 more week on the antibiotics and
has shown no signs of eye infection
in over 2 weeks and no lameness after an 11 & 14 mile days
last week and 2 10 mile days in snow this week.
So I am hoping the the infection is gone when she runs out of pills.

My dog ended up having a condition that causes her eye to not
make tears so the vet prescribed a gel that I put in her eye
twice a day. The discharge that showed in her eye is a defense the body has
to defend against damage not a sign of infection.
