Re: broken toe nail
best to just give him some chain time, toe nails heal up kinda slow. unless infection is setting in i don't bother giving meds, good healthy dogs should have relatively strong immune systems to fight off small things like this. If hes getting a temp then hit him with some antibiotics (something stronger than pen G), remember to ALWAYS give antibiotics for no less then 3 days after the symptoms are 100% gone, but better off to run it out to a week. Also make sure hes not in mud as this fall has been wet.
First thing i would do is; take a small bucket of hot water, hot enough water you CAN keep your hand in it but would rather not. add a bunch of salt and soak his foot for no less then 5 minutes a day but a few times a day would be better. Also if you wanna help cut down on possible fungi/ bacteria etc. add some tee tree oil to your hot water soaks.

They look worse then they are.....That little chunk of meat(quick) will harden up and heal in no time.....just keep clean.....They dont have as many nerve ending in their nail area like people do......
