Bear bill...
Did anyone else see the quick blurb on the WABI evening news on the bill proposed already this term for a ban on Bear "hounding" and trapping? Not a good way to start the year...

Plus talk with everyone you know and exsplain the facts to them...When the issues arrive in Augusta show up to them and support our side!.....Show them how we feel......Like to see the sportsmen flood that place to standing room only out thru the doors and fill the halls and parking lot in support....They'll always keep fighting us but strenght in numbers will make a statement.....

Re: Bear bill...
I have 1 question might be a good one might not.But why doesnt the state ifw take a stand against these idiots from away coming in here trying to take this away from us and stop them at the border? The state will lose a bundle of money. And is there anyway possiable of doing a referendem in our favor to stop the hsus from doing this in the future?just thinking out loud.

Re: Bear bill...
JR, wish I knew more about that sort of stuff, but must be more we can do then just keep letting them throw bill after bill, year after year at us....The IFW should be getting a bit upset about it as well.Since the resourses and funding they get is all stemed from the income that rolls in from all us....To let folks that have no clue about something challange our bioligists is retarded.....It should'nt even be a issue!...Not sure if there is a statute on how long a bill has to wait till it is re-entered year after year, but re-wording it a little should'nt be allowed either......

Call your rep and senator and tell them to grow some gonads and tell the out of state interest groups like husa go to hell and stay out of our state with their dirty money. We need to ask them what happen to the rackatiering charges they have against them.

Re: Bear bill...
Talked with John Porter on the phone tonight from NC he's on this site as well and we talked about this issue quite a bit.....Michigan has a heritage Bill that protects the sportsmen from bills like this......Maybe it's something we can do to protect ourselves from this happening again and again.....Has anyone heard of this or know anything else about it?
In the meanwhile,we all need to talk with our reps. and let them know we're against this bill...flooding them with info is key.....We cant wait for someone else to do this for us....Maybe posting the reps in Maine contacts on here will help for each district.....I'll see if I can find a link to that info....If anyone else knows where to get that info feel free to post.....Need to work together on this ...

Re: Bear bill...
I have been doing a bunch off research on this and it is what needs to be done. 17 states have passed law that protects all hunting, fishing, and trapping rights, most in a landslide vote, only one state has voted not to pass. We should have done this after 2004 but we did not, now is the time, all states have done this to keep HSUS out and thats what Maine needs

Re: Bear bill...
Paul-- I was saying the same thing as you just did but it fell on deaf ears.. I was really upset when the state made me hang up my steel trap for bears in support for snaring--- they said they had to give up something to please them...I say pure bullchit... They dont live in Maine or have ties to Maine so stay out.............
