!
Yes, it is strength in numbers whether or not the bill is sponsored yet, it will continue to circle around! Like Bill said yesterday we need to go up against their 20 or so anti's and fill the room with our supporters! Not only fill the room but the hallway and down the block! WE CAN'T SIT IDLE AND WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN! We nee to "kick" it's teeth in before it "punches" us and show them who's boss! I was there on the back steps in April almost 2 years ago trying to pick the Maine Tree Hounds Assoc. up off the ground and I've been there every day since growing the Maine Sporting Dogs Assoc. with supporters! Not only did we get the PTCCBHA support as a club but we also got 4 new members of the MSDA! And just about everyone in the room can't wait for one of the MSDA's shirts to show they support us! That they support the sport! I have even been in contact with a beagle club wanting to join us because they know they could be next... Not to mention the MSDA was one of the first clubs to do a bear trial and have over 100 entries! How many clubs out there can say they had that in the last year...or let alone last 5 years! We have the support of the UKC and bear trails are sanctioned events! The MSDA is here for every hounds-men out there, whether it's bear hounds or bird dogs! So now is the time to "put your money where your mouth is" and step up! I have it in me to keep the sport alive....do you? So I reach out to all of you and invite you to the next MSDA meeting...show up...show YOUR support and I'll have cookies for everyone!

Re: PLEASE READ!!!!!!
There may be a bigger fight on our hands than we want to know, It's not rather another refferendum comes but when, some off you may not have been running hounds in 2004 but thinking about it still hurts, myself and many others cut checks for thousands off dollars to fight that battle and it is coming again, The MSDA needs to think big, you will need a huge war chest, Im not talking about bottle drives either, I am talking thousands off dollars and countless hours, some off us where on the front lines in 2004 and now what it took to beat the HSUS and I gaurentee it's coming again, probably sooner than later, so think big and be preparred.

Re: PLEASE READ!!!!!!
Whats most important is numbers of members and awareness of the sport.....Talking with folks and doing the right thing by others.....Even the bottle drive are important in my eyes because every little bit counts no matter how big or small....If you own a hound of any sort in Maine or any other state and hunt here, and are'nt a member of the MSDA (SHAME ON YOU!)....This is not just a bear/hound issue....Your sport with a dog will be next....Gaurantee it....Money helps but signatures are most important.....I rather have a thousand poor folks signatures then 5 rich folks to owe later......Lets not think its just a money issue....When it comes down to a vote it's what folks remember and what they been taught.

Re: PLEASE READ!!!!!!
Undoubtedly, bills like this will rear their ugly heads yearly due to a whole host of reasons. Bodies i.e. signatures, numbers, etc. still play a very important role in fighting for houndsman’s rights. A friend of mine was elected to the Maine State Senate this year. I’ll see what I can find out in the coming days and post any updates as soon as I am made aware. In the meantime, understand recruitment play a pivotal role is in helping to defray costs to argue your positions as well as to help spread positive PR campaign talking points. Just my .02. I’ll do whatever I can to help even if it’s just garnering what info I can from the word on the streets in Augusta.

Re: PLEASE READ!!!!!!
We went from it's not time to get excited....to grab your torch and pitchfork in less than 12 hours... lol! But seriously the anti-hunters never stop! Neither should we! They wont stop until they've taken everything that we as sportsmen and women live for, right down to the last fishing hook on walmarts shelves...
